Enniskerry V Michael Dwyers
Division 1A
Our U12 A team were in final day action on Saturday 9th in Blessington GAA grounds. The final match was against Ml Dywers of the south, our two teams were so well matched that there was nothing between us from start to finish and a great game of football was played by both. In the first half we got a good start with the first point of the game which settled us down, as the game went on we were on top but unfortunally we kept giving away fouls which where expertly put away by Ml Dywers midfielder and gave them the lead and as the half time whistle blew score line read Enniskerry 2-01 to 0-09 Ml Dywers.
The 2nd half was the same story with us giving away more fouls which gave them a 4 point lead at one stage. As we where behind we started to give them a real fight and got a great goal which set us on the road and then came the leveler with a super 45 from half back Paul Maglone. As the game came to a close we were level on 3 different times but once again they got some handy frees to pull away from us and with no time left and when the final whistle came it was the end of the road for our super team who have done us so proud. The final score was Enniskerry 3-04 to 1-13 Ml Dywers.
Can we just say a big well done to all the team who won all their league games in div 2 and then went unbeaten in the div 2 championship to do a historic double for a first time in the club history. We where then invited into the u12A championship which we embraced with open arms winning two games against Blessington and St Pats and lossing to St Nicholas & Ml Dywers in todays final, so lads a big well done to you all and parents a big thanks for all your support during the season .
Enniskerry V St Kevins
Division 3B
In the modified 3B championship we were on the pitch straight after the 1A final against St Kevin's, there was nothing between the two teams in terms of ability and skill. The one major factor was the wind which we played with to our backs in the first half, we started off well and at the end of the first halft the score was Enniskerry 2-3 St Kevins 0-2.
During the half time we talked to the team about the affect of playing against the wind and we made some changes to cope with it, St Kevins brought on some subs and they got the batter start and were eating away at our lead. The boys and girls stood uo to the challenge and started playing some excellent football to take the pressure off our back line. The team played their hearts out and when the final whistle went there was only two points in it to Enniskerry.
Thank you to St Kevins for a fantastic game, they showed great spirit and fought us tooth and nail all the way.
In a match like this there can be no man of the match as all players stood up to the mark to win this final game of the season and it was with great pride that Captain Keith Molloy took the winners trophy. Just to mention a few of the players that rose to the occasion forwards like Amy Coogan, Troy Scully and Cormac Barry, the fantastic midfielding of Sam Micklem, Adam O'Reilly, James Maguire and Michael Brady, the defensive skills of John Cahill, Sophie Delaney, Keith Molloy and Owen Corrigan who put his body in the firing line more than once.
The squad on the day was, John Cahill, Sophie Delaney, Owen Corrigan, Eoin O'Connell, Eoin Riordan, Keith Molloy (C), Adam O Reilly, Sam Micklem, James Maguire, Maitiu Boylan, Amy Coogan, Cormac Barry, Jack Quinn, Ryan Corcoran, Michael Brady, James Byrne and Troy Scully. The coaches would like to thank all the players for their efforts over the last few months, it has been a pleasure and great fun to work with these players and also thank you to the parents for their support.
